Mill & Mortar Golden Glogg
We sampled this on Moonlight madness + it was a hit!
The syrup is a non-alcoholic golden syrup made with cinnamon, cardamom, ginger and white pepper. It's also combined with lemongrass, vanilla and star anise.
Golden Glogg is superb for the combination of white wine and white port, but is also ideal for non-alcoholic mulled wine based on cider, elderflower or apple juice. Serve Golden glögg with dried cranberries and thin strips of lemon, soaked in white port wine.
Can also be drunk chilled with ice cubes and lemon balm or a slice of lemon or lime. Heat the wine slowly in a large pot, it must never boil. Add golden syrup. Golden glögg can easily be made in advance and gently warmed up before use. The alcohol strength can be reduced by replacing white wine in whole or in part with juice - and it can be increased by adding rum, white port or calvados. Remember that when you add alcohol, the taste should only be just barely noticeable, it should not dominate. In return, you get a delicious full-bodied and slightly fatter taste that goes well with the filling.
Serve in a glass or bowl, so that the beautiful golden color can be seen. A few strips of lemon peel in each glass or a spoonful of dried apricots or cranberries, softened in calvados and white port.
